PROJECT OVERVIEW
Siem Reap is currently producing between 400 and 500 tons of municipal waste per day of which 250-300 tonnes per day is collected by the progressive Cambodian waste management company GAEA (Global Action for Environmental Awareness) and committed to landfills in Siem Reap.
Like most landfill sites, the capacity to accept municipal waste is reducing and GAEA has expressed a desire to work with GEI MEKONG to provide a more sustainable waste management solution.
GEI MEKONG is assessing the opportunity to build and operate a waste-to-energy (Pyrolysis) facility that will initially process approximately 140 tons per day of municipal waste generated in Siem Reap. The project will start with building 2 initial pilot lines, then upscaling the pilot to increase capacity in phase 2.
FACILITY TYPE
Phase 1 – 2 x Hybrid pyrolysis line processing 140 tons of municipal waste per day and producing 4MWs of electricity and 24,000 litres of synthetic fuel (EN 590) per day.
Phase 2 – 2 x Hybrid pyrolysis line processing 140 tons of municipal waste per day and producing 4 MWs of electricity and 24,000 litres of synthetic fuel (EN 590) per day.
Total medium-term capacity of 280 tonnes producing 8 MWs electricity and 48,000 litres of synthetic fuel (EN 590) per day
